So I've been building websites since 2008. Oh, Jesus. But when I actually started Verdant Digital in January this year and went full time, I kind of had, it should have been this amazing, this is brilliant, I can do this, this is amazing. And then the impostor syndrome hit. Every client project, every proposal, I was second guessing everything and I was procrastinating all over the place. I was doing the things I enjoyed doing; I wasn't doing anything that actually pushed my business forward. What was brilliant about my coaching with Olivier was that actually his questions cut through everything They cut through all my overthinking instead of me just being hunched over my laptop, thinking about all the things that could go wrong and doing the stuff I enjoy because it's easy and stuff like that, rather than actually the stuff that mattered.
And once I was through some of the talking points, I actually started seeing what was possible. His approach helped me focus on what I actually needed doing, not what just I enjoyed doing. After working with Olivier, the impostor syndrome hasn't completely vanished. I wouldn't pretend it has, but it's gone from this massive weight pushing me down to just a kind of slight background noise. I'm actually doing the work that I enjoy, and it moves my business forward. I described to Olivier in my last session with him, actually, that there's this actual science that if you lift your chin up, there's something in the back of your brain that actually makes you happier. And I think that's where keeping your chin up comes from. But this is what this whole process felt like. It was kind of like learning how to lift my chin up again. That shift from looking just down.
